Thomas E. Skidmore (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Thomas E. Skidmore, 60, passed away on August 16, 2024.

He was born in Dallas, TX, and raised in El Paso, but spent the majority of his adulthood in Evanston, IL, and most recently in Wilmington, NC where he was a cherished figure in both communities and among his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication, as a loving husband to his wife Beth Skidmore, a devoted father to Sarah and Jack, and a great friend to many.

Tom was deeply committed to family, placing them at the heart of everything. His unwavering support and affection were felt by all, and his playful humor brought joy to those around him.

Tom pursued his undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso before obtaining a MBA and MMM degree from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. His academic background paved the way for a successful career with Alvarez & Marsal, where his hardworking and generous nature made him a valued team member and a mentor to many.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; his children, Sarah and Jack; his father, James W. “Wally” Skidmore; brothers, James Jr. (Kelley), John (Veronica); and nieces and nephews, Cameron, Conrad and Emma. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Roberta “Bobbie” Skidmore.

Tom will be remembered for the deep connections he fostered throughout his life. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Tee – Greater Chicago Youth Campus at Canal Shores or St. Clement’s School Trust – Skidmore Family Endowment to support tuition assistance.

A celebration of life will held in Chicago this Fall.
