WILMINGTON — Shirley Mae (Hertzog) Morris, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Monday, August 26th, 2024 at the age of 93.
She was born on December 22, 1930 in Fleetwood, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roland James Hertzog and the late Helen Mae (Schwoyer) Hertzog. She was the wife of the late Peter Francis Morris, who passed away on June 18, 2009. She married Peter on August 20, 1950 in St. Paul’s Chapel, Fleetwood, PA.
After graduating from Fleetwood High School in 1948, Shirley attended Reading Business Institute where she completed the Administrative Assistant program in 1949. She went on to have a long career as an administrative assistant, most recently for Concern foster care agency in Fleetwood, PA, before retiring to Florida in 1992. In Florida she became a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Port Orange, FL, The Forty 9er 9 Hole Golf Group and The Daytona Beach Golf Club. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at the Volusia County Library in City Island, Dayton Beach and The Domestic Abuse Council Thrift Store, Dayton Beach.
Shirley moved to Wilmington, NC in 2019 to be closer to family. She resided at Lake Shore Commons, Wilmington, NC, where she made many friends and enjoyed playing dominos. Shirley was a very kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be loved, greatly missed and honored by her friends and family.
Surviving are daughter, Cynthia M. Copeland, wife of Robert Copeland of Eidenburg, TX, Son, Timothy D. Morris, husband of Stacy Morris of Navassa, NC, Granddaughters, Tara Tully, wife of Brian Tully, Carly Feddock, wife of Bryan Feddock, Valerie Eichenlab wife of Mike Eichenlab, Krista Whitney, wife of Craig Whitney, great-grandchildren, Grayson and Aria Tully, Cole and Ashton Whitney.
