WILMINGTON — Gail Darlene (Morrison) McFadden passed peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Cape Fear Life Center in Wilmington, NC.
Gail was born July 5, 1943, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Robert and Evelyn (Schick) Morrison. Her husband of 63 years, Alfred James McFadden preceded her in death by only three weeks.
Gail and Al were the proud and devoted parents of three sons, Gregory Alan McFadden of Erie, PA, the late Douglas James McFadden and Russell Guy McFadden of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by Grandsons Brian and Alex McFadden of Wilmington, as well as many nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by her sisters Marion Dinger Buie and Carol Snyder of Conneaut OH, and brother Rex Morrison of Cincinnati, OH.
Gail took great pride in being a Wife, Mother, Homemaker and Grandmother. She and her sisters were widely known for their wonderful Sunday family dinners, with their doors always open for friends, family and neighbors. Gail was an award-winning ceramist. Each Christmas her children looked forward to opening the “shredded paper box,” that contained a loving original piece on ceramic for each of her children.
Gail had a great love for music; on Saturday nights she could be found on the dance floor until the last note was played. She loved to travel and experience new cultures, food and adventures. On Saturday mornings, you could find Gail and Al hunting for treasure at garage sales. Gail especially loved fishing on her journeys and passed that love to her beloved grandchildren.
The Family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Lower Cape Fear Life Center for their compassion and tender care during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCenter in Gail’s honor (1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401-7335).
Condolences to the family may be sent here.
