WILMINGTON — It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Peggy Sue Blair’s passing.
Affectionately known as Peg, she peacefully left this world in her sleep on August 12, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Born on May 14, 1941, in China Grove, North Carolina, she lived a full and vibrant life for 83 incredible years.
Peg was a force to be reckoned with in the industrial sales field. Known for her exceptional organizational skills and tough nature, she left a lasting impression on her colleagues and clients. But it was in her personal life where her true spirit shone.
Her love for plants and flowers was evident, and she had a knack for decorating, especially when it came to Christmas. Peg had a big heart, and she never hesitated to rescue animals in need, whether they were dogs, cats, or even squirrels. Her unwavering devotion to the welfare of all living creatures was truly remarkable. And when it came to her family, Peg was always there to lend a helping hand in any way she could.
Peggy Sue Blair was preceded in death by her parents, Jay Lee Wallace and Geneva Etta Benfield Canipe, as well as her dear sister, Evelyn Safriet.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her children, Darby Dillard and wife Betty of Charlotte, NC; Rebecca Newman and husband Seth; and Debra Spinks and husband Donald “Rocket,” all of Wilmington, NC, will forever hold her close to their hearts. Peg is also survived by five grandchildren: Gabe (Seth) Aldridge, Lauren (Adam) Radkowski, Jessica Dillard, Andrew Spinks, and Justin Spinks. And let’s not forget the ten great-grandchildren who will continue her legacy of love and kindness.
Peggy Sue Blair will be remembered for her dedication, loving spirit, and selflessness. She made a lasting impact on the lives of her family, friends, and the entire community. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory bring comfort and solace to all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held in Charlotte at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the New Hanover County Humane Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association, reflecting Peg’s enduring love for animals and her compassionate spirit.
