WILMINGTON — Following a courageous battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis, Eula Mae Potter left this world on Tuesday, August 6 and went to her heavenly home.
Eula was born in Bolton, North Carolina on June 18,1942 to the late Mary Lee and William Hardy King. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edgar (Buck) Potter, brothers: Homer, Graham, Lane and Hollis and sisters: Sara, Becky, Ann and Margo (Kitty).
Upon moving from Bolton to Wilmington, Eula attended and then graduated from James Walker School of Nursing in 1963. Following graduation, she enjoyed a career as an Operating Room Nurse for 32 years at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Many of the physicians, nurses and staff became part of her extended family.
In 1987, Eula married the love of her life, Edgar (Buck) Potter. Together, Eula and Buck built a storybook life filled with love. For 33 years, they created a marriage grounded in Christ and overflowing with love. They very much enjoyed extensive travels and spending time with family and friends. Eula and Buck found a church home at Winter Park Baptist Church where they grew in faith and developed deep and lasting friendships. They were active not only in Sunday School, but also in Keenagers. They cherished the relationships formed over Bible Study, meals and dominoes.
Eula is survived by one brother, Andrew King and wife Martha, several loving nieces and nephews, two special brothers – in – law and one sister – in – law.
Special thanks to Pam Byrd, Hillary Wells, Mike Womble, Randy Bryant and Mike King for the constant love and care they have so unselfishly given. Many thanks also to the Fellowship for Christ Sunday School Class at Winter Park Baptist Church.
