WILMINGTON — Brittany Lynn Swinson, age 26 years, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, in Wilmington.
She was born June 16, 1998, in Wilmington, the daughter of Kevin Glenn Swinson (Deceased 2021) and Amanda Tyler Ochoa-Rivas. Brittany is survived by her spouse, Bridget Salyer Swinson (12/3/2019); son, Dakoda and his mom Rosie; and siblings, Breanna, Haley, and Brooke Swinson; Joel, Maribel and Shakira Rivas (Brandon); and Luciana Tellez (Alex).
Brittany grew up in Currie, NC. Prior to high school she moved to Fayetteville, NC where she lived with her Aunt Kim and Uncle Cecil McCabe and her cousins Christina Hancox (Tyler) and Jessica McCabe. Brittany was an active member of HS band and enjoyed culinary club.
In the summer of 2015, Brittany lost her beloved Grandmother, June Pittman Swinson, to liver disease. During this challenging time, Brittany pressed on and graduated from Pine Forest High School in 2016. She spent the next few years experiencing life and spending time with various family members and friends. In 2019, Brittany moved to North Dakota to be near her father, Kevin, and explore various job opportunities. By 2021, she had returned to NC and faced numerous challenges but worked hard to overcome them with the support of her Aunt Melissa Tyler, her family and friends. Prior to her passing, Brittany was living with her Grandparents, Charles Swinson and Doris Thompson, who were devoted to her wellbeing. She loved music, movies and making videos. Brittany had an extensive family of grandparents, aunts and uncles, nephews, cousins and a supportive set of friends who loved and cared for her. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all.
Family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday August 17, 2024, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.
