James “Jim” Ray Huff (Quinn McGowen Funeral Home)

WILMINGTON — James Ray Huff, 86, of Wilmington, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

He was born on January 20, 1938, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Chester and Louellen (Clark) Huff.

Jim, a proud US Marine, was a former Deacon at Grace Baptist Church and was currently a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He loved baseball and when his children were young he even coached their baseball and football teams. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Jim was a bright light to many and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Diana (Loney) Huff; sons, Chris Huff and wife, Christa, Kenneth Ray Huff and wife, Lori; daughter, Michelle Roberts and husband, Brian; sister, Brenda Ferguson; grandchildren, Sophie Huff, Emma Huff, Jameson Huff, Jared Huff and wife, Ariel, Tanner Huff, Laney Huff, Kelsey Heston and husband, Mike, Justin Simmons, Jenna Simmons, Hannah Roberts, Logan Roberts; and great grandchildren, Ariel Simmons and Aspen Jade Simmons.

In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Huff, Jesse Huff; and sisters, Maxine Mayfield, Judy Williams, and Betty Riley.

Jim’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington with Pastor Arnold Griffin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oleander Memorial Gardens with and the US Marines performing funeral honors. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington.
