WILMINGTON — Suzanne Towles Blackman passed on July 12, 2024 surrounded by her family at Heritage Greens Arboretum in Greensboro, NC.
Born April 20, 1931 in Wilmington NC, Suzanne (Susie) was the daughter of the late LeRoy Chowning Towles and Isabel Grandstaff Towles. She grew up in Wilmington, NC until moving to High Point with her husband, Louie Alton Blackman, Jr. in 1970.
To most she was known as Susie, but was loving called Nana by grandchildren and Mama Sue by caregivers at Heritage Greens. She will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, and deep devotion to her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Paige Blackman (David Katzenmeyer) and her son Lou Blackman III; four grandchildren, Matt Blackman (Kendall), Sam Blackman (Erin) (mother Susan Hedgecock), Krista Katzenmeyer, and Kacey Katzenmeyer; three great-grandchildren, Weston Blackman, Emilia Blackman, and James Blackman.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dan Macgill officiating.
The family is especially grateful for the loving care she received from her friends at Heritage Greens Arboretum.
