CASTLE HAYNE — It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Gerald “Jerry” Urban, at age 82, on May 23, 2024, at his home in Castle Hayne, NC.
A graduate of Pennsylvania Military College in 1963, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and later furthering his education earning a Master of Science in Taxation from Widener University in 1982.
After serving four years in the Army, he worked for Dupont for 20 plus years until he followed his calling to come back to NC and start his own business, providing accounting, tax, and financial services alongside his niece, Mary Urban, for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane Urban of 60 years. His daughter Dawn (Pete) Greenhalgh, grandson Justin and granddaughter Brenna. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He loved his family dearly as we all love him. Actions speak louder than words, and oh how loudly his actions spoke for the love of his family. He will be missed by us all.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to NHC Fire and Rescue, the NHC Paramedics, and the Sheriff’s office.
