WILMINGTON — With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Randi Lisa Thorp, who left us on Monday May 27, 2024, at the age of 70 in Wilmington, NC.
Born on October 17, 1953, in Tyler, MN. Randi’s journey through life was marked by her love for family, life and the Lord.
Randi was a runner, and loved beauty in life around her, finding beauty in even the smallest things. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Marlian Jean Petersen, and her devoted husband of 36 years, John Louis Thorp. Their memories remain cherished in our hearts as we find solace in the legacy they left behind.
Randi’s spirit lives on through her surviving family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Marjorie Ries Petersen, and her children: son Marlian Daniel Smith and wife Gabriel; daughter Jennifer S. Handschuh and husband Rich; daughter Holly T. Coleman and wife Ellie. Sister Angela Carpenter and husband Lonny and sister Julie Lamb also carry forth her memory, as well as her dear friend Susan.
Her grandchildren Daniel, Justin, Emma (Jacob), Caleb, David, and Cash were the light of Randi’s life. Each one holds a piece of her heart and will continue to remember her love.
A celebration of Randi’s life is planned for Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 4-7 PM at Chick and Teresa Colemans Residence. We invite all who knew and loved Randi to join us. (Reach out to a family member for address)
Though Randi’s physical presence may be gone, her spirit endures in the countless lives she touched. Her strength, kindness, and love will forever inspire us to cherish every moment and hold our loved ones close. She is rejoicing in Heaven with John and her loved ones who have gone before.
As Mom always said, “Mercy and truth accompany you.”
