WILMINGTON — Georgianna Irene Jenkins, affectionately known as ” Joy ” to her family and friends, passed away on May 15, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Born on January 13, 1949, in Montgomery, West Virginia to George Hannah Newman, Sr. and Eula Louise Jenkins, Joy was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her brothers George Hannah and Shawn Patrick proceeded her in death. She is survived by brothers Richard and Michael; sisters Christine, Jane, Serena, Eula, and Donnita; daughter Tyria Candelaria; son Chris Jenkins; granddaughter Aneulena Barber; great grandson Amarè Darrell-Richard Barber; great granddaughter Aubrielle Eulah Barber.
