NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Carter Jade Vanhoose, born on December 30, 1996, in New Hanover County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 13, 2024, in the same county. He was 27 years old.
Carter worked in construction alongside his father, mainly focusing on gutter installation. He was known for his hardworking nature and dedication to his craft.
Carter was an active individual who cherished life and embraced every moment with enthusiasm. He enjoyed playing soccer and baseball, skateboarding, and playing the guitar. His unique ability to hear a tune and play it by ear on the guitar was truly remarkable. Carter may not have played the instrument the “right way,” but his melodies were always spot on. His joyful spirit and love for music brought happiness to those around him.
Carter also relished spending time with his friends, who were an integral part of his life. He had a big heart and was often found doing for others, even if it meant going without for himself. His generosity and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by Jimmie Bisbee and Carolyn Bowen. Carter is survived by his father, Jeremy Vanhoose and stepmother Cami Vanhoose; his mother, Joy Vanhoose; his sister, Katelyn Vanhoose; his stepbrother, Val Oliynykov and stepsister, Jodi Oliynykov; his grandparents, Deloris Stanley, Jack and Laura Wilhelm, and his aunt, Julie Wilhelm. He also leaves behind multiple cousins, aunts, uncles, and many other extended family members and friends who loved him dearly and will miss him profoundly.
A Funeral Service will be held to honor and remember Carter on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation.
Carter has always been a special young man, selflessly putting others before himself. His big heart and generous spirit will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
