ROCKY POINT — Gene Gareth Harrell, age 80 of Rocky Point, passed peacefully at home Monday September 25, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 30, 1942 in Duplin County, son of the late Raymond and Fonnie Nethercutt Harrell.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mona Earp Harrell; son David Harrell and wife Angel of Rocky Point; daughter Cheryl Robinson and husband Daniel of PA; six grandchildren, Nicholas Harrell, Aiden Harrell, Sean Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Laura Moore, and Kristen Robinson; six great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Clark; and many nieces and nephews.
Gene was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed metal detecting and gardening. He was an avid knife and coin collector. Gene loved God and enjoyed reading scripture. He was a huge history buff and especially enjoyed civil war history. Gene was a great story teller and everyone enjoyed hearing his true life accounts of times past.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Friday September 29, 2023 at 5397 Highsmith Rd. Rocky Point NC.
