WILMINGTON — Esther Evans Nance, 95, of Wilmington passed peacefully from her earthly life Sunday, July 9, 2023 at her home surrounded by family and with much love.
She was born October 13, 1927 in Brunswick County, the daughter of James Daniel Evans and Gladys Bennett Evans Wells. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Fredrick Nance; sisters, Louise Jordan and Faye Stevens; and brothers, Daniel Evans and James Evans.
Esther is survived by her sons, David Fredrick Nance (Rita) and Darryl Mills; daughters, Anita Roberts and Debbie Benton; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; brother, Gene R. Wells (Sophia); and many extended family and friends.
Esther was a very intelligent lady who was proficient at working crossword puzzles and other word games. Also, she enjoyed cross stitching. A lady of fashion is a term that fits Esther to a tee as she always made sure everything was just right. With her vibrant personality Esther was a joy to know. Most of all Esther loved her family.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
