Geoffrey Botsford Wilson, 65

LELAND — Geoffrey Wilson of Leland, NC, formerly of New Fairfield, CT suddenly passed into the presence of His Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the age of 65.

Geoff was predeceased by his parents, Fredric J Wilson, Jr and Eleanor Maroney Wilson and his in-laws, Samuel Henry, Jr and Frances Henry Boss. He was the husband of Sandra Henry Wilson and proud father to Jonathan David, Matthew Fredric and Geoffrey Trevor Wilson.

His devoted siblings are Suellen (Jeffrey) Wheeler, Eric (Madelene) Wilson and James Wilson and in-laws: Kathleen (Mark) Newton, Daniel (Shelly) Henry and Dawn (Charlie) Laird. Geoff loved all his nieces and nephews and catching up on their lives whenever he could: Katie S, Laney, Jay, Tucker, Katie L, Westley, Blake, Carter, Kim, Kristina, Jack and Harry. He showed enthusiastic, unabashed love to his grandnephews and grandnieces: Brynis, Lochlan, Ivy, Danica and Jessica. He is currently showering that attention on little Finnian who predeceased him. He also leaves behind several cousins.

Geoff was born in Bronxville, NY. He attended Greenwich High School and Ithaca College and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. His professional career was in Information Technology for GE Capital and Synchrony Bank.

As the father of 3 active sons, he spent many years coaching youth sports in New Fairfield and was the Number One fan of New Fairfield High School Rebels Lacrosse until the day he left town.

Geoff retired in 2020 and moved to North Carolina to begin the next phase of his life. There he transferred his support to the Duke Men’s Lacrosse team with season tickets to the home games. He was the unofficial Project Manager of building his new house and he jumped into supporting and serving his new community: working with Matthew’s Children’s Food Ministry, hosting PORCH Neighborhood Food Drives, serving at Port City Community Church and working in the Leland Area Rotary Club.

Geoff leaves behind his many friends: the life-long ones in Connecticut and warm and welcoming new ones in North Carolina and a large family who is missing him dearly.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 29, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and a memorial service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at Andrews Mortuary and Crematory, 1617 Market St,, Wilmington, NC. Interment will take place privately.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
