WILMINGTON — Joseph Patrick McDade passed away unexpectedly January 10, 2023 after a long battle with addiction and mental illness.
Joseph is survived by his parents Patrick and Eileen, his son Dempsey Joseph, siblings Shannon, Stephen and wife Candace, Raymond and wife Megan, grandparents Bill and Marie Kelly and Jane McDade. He also leaves behind a large family of nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
Joe, or our JoeBear, created a better life for himself moving to San Diego, CA. He spent years dedicating his days to helping other recovering addicts. You could always find Joe walking down pacific beach with a burrito and bang energy drink in hand listening to Cole Swindell or Brantley Gilbert. A day never went by where he didn’t call his mother. Anyone who was lucky to know Joe, knows his heart is one of a kind. A truly selfless, goofy, compassionate, dad, son, godfather, brother and so much more.
Above all Joe loved his son Dempsey with everything in his heart. Joe once said “I’ve always struggled to figure out what I want to be in life, but I’ve always known I wanted to be a Dad.”
