WILMINGTON — James Lee “Bubby” Thacker, 44, born in Pikeville, Kentucky and resided in Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on December 22, 2022.
James Lee, (Bubby) was a quiet young man with a kind and generous heart! Bubby would help anyone in need. He would even stop beside the road to help strangers. Bubby like to tell jokes, camouflage, deer hunting, fishing, outdoors, and motorcycles.
James Lee “Bubby” is survived by his mother Deronda Porter (Gary); his children: Emily and Andrew Roberts; sisters: Melena Cantrell (Jack) and Michelle Thacker; brother: Nicholas Thacker; Nephews: DJ Cantrell (Laura) and Michael Lee Cantrell; Great niece Lakyn Cantrell and Great nephew Jackson Cantrell. Grandmother Shirley Thacker. Aunts: Barbara Fontana, Judith Lee (Larry), Martha Adkins and Lorene Collins (Jesse); and uncles Lorn Looney (Mary Kathryn), Anthony Looney (Christy), Steve Thacker (Elaine), and Smitty Thacker (Lena). As well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Thacker, his grandmother Carleen Looney, and other loved ones.
The family will be holding a private ceremony at a later date.
