
WILMINGTON — William “Mace” Gaskins, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 23, 2022. He was born November 8, 1960 in Jacksonville, North Carolina to the late Dr. Robert Hogan Gaskins Jr. and the late Geraldine Dickinson Gaskins. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hogan Gaskins III and stepmother, Doris S. Gaskins.
Mace moved to Wilmington in 1979 to attend UNCW. After living from Wrightsville Beach to Downtown Wilmington over the years, he made many friends and always had a story to tell. Mace was passionate about all sports especially Carolina Tarheel Basketball. He valued his family and friendships and was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Christianna Noe; favorite aunt Billie Mace Durham; step sisters Debbie Corbet-Cooper, Linda C. Moore (Keith) and Diana Lee Mills; brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Donis Smith as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to especially thank their extended Sardou Rd family for all their love and support.
Mace did not want a memorial service. He wants to be remembered as he was in life, with a smile on his face and love in his heart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Wilmington or St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville.
