WILMINGTON — Dorothy Pauline Recksiek Wargo, 96, of Wilmington, NC, passed away April 3, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born December 30, 1925 in New York, NY, the daughter of the late Frederick Recksiek and August Jungbluth Recksiek.
Dorothy was a graduate of Queens College. She taught in the Long Island school system for 20 years, where she taught nursery school up to the 12th grade. When she wasn’t teaching, she enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and traveling. In 1986, Dorothy and her husband Daniel moved to Kure Beach, NC, which was their lifetime dream.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Wargo. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Diana Gailes, of Riverside, CT; son, David Wargo (Lisa) of Wilmington, NC; brother, Fredric Recksiek (Ingrid) of Bolivia, NC; grandchildren, Penelope Devante, Jackson Gailes, and Daniel Wargo; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm, Friday, April 8, 2022, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3302 College Rd., Wilmington, NC, 28412.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dorothy’s honor to Messiah Lutheran Church.
