WILMINGTON — Judith Johnson Beckett of Wilmington passed away Monday, February 7, 2022.
Judith was born in Goldsboro, NC on July 3, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Jesse Thomas Johnson and Mamie Horton Johnson.
Judith was a Charter member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church of Myrtle Grove and served as the first Senior Warden. She retired from South East Area Health Education Center and was formerly employed with the State of NC at O’Berry Center in Goldsboro and Vocational Rehabilitation in Wilmington. She graduated from Goldsboro High School and attended Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College in Wilson, NC.
She is survived by her husband Carl Beckett, sons, Donald A. Beckett (Linda) of Garner, NC, Dr. Thomas J. Beckett (Tammy) of Wilmington, Stephen K. Beckett (Lisa) of Pikeville, NC, and Christopher A. Beckett (Andrea) of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Aiden, Hannah, Mallory, Laura, Bethany, Abigal, and David; and one great-grandchild, Emory. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Rachel Johnson Hale and Elizabeth Johnson Oldham.
Memorial services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Holy Cross Episcopal Church of Myrtle Grove, 5820 Myrtle Grove Road, Wilmington, NC 28409 led by Fr. Jerry Gallagher and Fr. Dick Warner. The service will be an outdoor ceremony at the Warner Memorial Garden.
A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church Building Fund.
