BELVILLE — Philip Ray Bernard, 74, of Belville, died September 15, 2021, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. He was the son of the late Louis and Ruth Bernard of Chesapeake, VA. He had Electrical Engineering degrees from Old Dominion University, Northern Illinois University, and NC State University. He spent most of his career with Carolina Power and Light at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant.
Phil’s passions included restoring antique furniture, clocks, telephones, and Post War (1947-1970) Dodge Power Wagons. He also collected Lionel model trains. There was nothing he couldn’t fix!
He is survived by his wife of 43 years , Laurie Gresham Bernard, of the home, and one daughter Caroline Shelton Bernard of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by his brother, Bennie Louis Bernard of Portsmouth, VA. and other family members. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.
