Haywood Jefferson ‘Woody’ Clement

LELAND — Haywood Jefferson “Woody” Clement, 70, moved on to his heavenly home Saturday, July 31, 2021. He succumbed to pancreatic cancer in the comfort of his home in Leland, North Carolina. Woody was born Jan. 3, 1951, to the late Randolph and Florence Clement of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was the oldest of five children.

Woody is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Grace (Sciarrino); daughters, Cotie Mekdeci, Madeline German and Mary Beth (James) Gray; son, Randy (Ashley) Clement; brothers, Edward, Donald and Charles (Janice) Clement; sister, Joan Miller; and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Woody went onto a successful career selling corporate benefits. He liked to stay busy in retirement and typically had at least one home improvement project at home or at one of his children’s homes. His joy was supporting his children in any way he could. He loved to travel, exercise, ride bikes and read.

Memorial services for Haywood Clement will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 5, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St., Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Fisher House Foundation,12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Suite 410, Rockville, MD 20852. Fisher House provides housing to military and veteran families while a loved one is in the hospital.
