SOUTHPORT — Wesley S. “Stuart” Gescat, 48, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021. Wesley was born Feb. 21, 1973, to Richard Gescat and Patricia Garner in Wilmington.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents, Wesley Garner and Grace Bowling.
Stuart is survived by his son, Evan Stuart Gescat, age 16; daughter Olivia Kimberly Gescat, age 14; father, Richard Gescat; brother, Timothy Garner Gescat of Southport; sisters, Jessica Paige Reeves of Erwin and Amber Gescat-Perez of Tennessee; uncle, Gregory Garner of Southport; and several cousins and four nephews.
Stuart loved to flounder fish, ride his motorcycle, travel, have cookouts with close family and friends and was always full of life and on the go. He was passionate about spending time with his kids. He was involved in his church community, where he was a youth group teacher. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Peacock-Newnam & White Chapel with the Rev. Charles Drew officiating. Visitation will be held at the chapel. Burial will follow services in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Bryan Garner, Daniel Atkinson, Evan Gescat, Jimmy Garner, Shane Garner and Timothy Reeves.
