CAROLINA SHORES — Charles E. “Chuck” Witzel, 85, born Nov. 26, 1935, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021, with his loving wife of 62 years, Ann, by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Witzel.
He is survived by his five children, Lois, Michael, Christopher, Joanne and Charles Jr.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and sister, Cathy McCue.
Chuck, as he was known by many, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a commercial truck driver for most of his formal career and loved traveling all over the country in his truck. He was part of the Coast Guard Auxiliary based in Southport and enjoyed that up until he became ill. Chuck was a really great listener and loved his 4 p.m. martini.
His devotion to his wife and the love that they shared was first and for most in his life. He set a great example to everyone around him to be polite, gracious and loyal. He will be missed and his life will be celebrated by those who loved him.
