
CASTLE HAYNE — Sandra Faye McLaurin Burton, 77, peacefully passed away from her life Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born March 8, 1944, in Cumberland County to Empie Theodore and Vera Josephine Jones McLaurin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Clayton Floyd Burton; and sister, Annette McLaurin.
Sandra is survived by her children, Tammy Burton Murrell, and her husband, Carl, and Raymond F. Burton, and his wife, Tracey; grandchildren, Clayton Murrell (Brittany), Cody Murrell (Priscilla), Carson Murrell (Dayana), Kourtney Orahood, and her husband, Brad, and Garrett Burton; great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Colton and Jared; brother, Maurice McLaurin, and his wife, Diane; sister, Phyllis Luck, and her husband, Ronnie; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Debbie Petty.
Sandra was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Her happiest of days were spent with her family and her kindness, good heart and sweet spirit are a lasting legacy that will continue among those who knew her best. She enjoyed her roses and birds, and, in particular, her cardinals held a special place in her heart.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 3, at Riverview Memorial Park, 9332 US Hwy 117, Watha, with Pastor Sam Hill conducting the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
