Sean Andrew Cavnar, 54, served in the Marine Corps for 20 years

WILMINGTON — Sean Andrew Cavnar, 54, went to his final resting place Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised by Tommy Joe and the late Eileen Cavnar. Also, preceding him in death was his sister, Patti Berg Cavnar.

Surviving Sean are his father, Tommy Joe Cavnar; sister, Christine Cavnar; his very significant other, Jill Cesarsky; Michelle Goodwin, mother of his daughters, Amber Powell (Bric) and Brittany Lancaster (Justin); Diantha Cavnar, mother of his daughters, Heavan Cavnar and Seanna Cavnar; grandchildren, Jhett Powell, Jasper Powell, Sterling Lancaster and Stellar Lancaster; and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sean served with honor and distinction in the U.S. Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant for 20 years. During his career, Sean received many military awards for his service to his country around the world.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, 1535 S. 41st St., Wilmington. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, and will be announced at a later date.
