WILMINGTON — Alice Elliott Kennedy, 79, passed away Tuesday, Jan 12, 2021, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center.
Alice was born Sept. 28, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Elliott and Edith White Elliott. Alice grew up in Pittsburgh and McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, and relocated to Cary with her young family in 1976.
Alice was a loving mother, grandmother and caring friend. She became a medical secretary and worked at UNC Rex Hospital and for other doctors before retiring. She was passionate about politics and helped others when she could. She loved to read all kinds of books, even the dictionary. She was an artist and loved to paint and draw.
She also enjoyed playing all kinds of games, and she shared all those passions with her family. Alice liked sports too, playing tennis and skiing in her younger days and watching the Steelers play (up until late this season). She was a big fan of Jeopardy and watched with her kids and grandkids alike over the years. Maybe she’ll get to play with Alex up there in heaven.
She is survived by her children, William Kennedy of Wilmington and Heather Perkins of Raleigh; grandchildren, Zack Kennedy (Cassondra), Alex Kennedy (Ashley McGinnis) and Casey Perkins, all of Wilmington, and Ozzie Perkins of Raleigh; three great-granddaughters, Chazalyn, Kaia and Emeri; sister, Heather Kircher of Barrington, Illinois; brother, Jim Elliott (Carole) of Bowman, California; and several nephews and nieces.
There will be a memorial for immediate family to honor her wishes and celebrate her life.
The family expresses their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare for their care and support these last few months, especially C.C. for her warmth and comfort.
