Georgette Christine ‘Georgie’ Kowaleski Rodgers, 80, known for her dedication to family and friends

HAMPSTEAD — Georgette Christine “Georgie” Kowaleski Rodgers, 80, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, at her home. Georgette was the wife of Eugene Rodgers, who preceded her in passing in 2005. They were married for 44 years.

Georgette lived in New York and Northport, Long Island, for the majority of her life until she retired to Oriental before settling in Hampstead. Georgette, known as Georgie by most, was born in Queens, New York, to the late Leo and Anna Kowaleski. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Leona Lloyd.

Georgette was mainly a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for part of her life. Georgette was best known for her dedication to family and friends. Everyone who visited was warmly welcomed and greeted with a homecooked meal. Georgie’s hobbies included gardening, cooking, needle point, puzzles, Sudoku and spending time with friends at water aerobics and Bunko. Georgie loved her pets, especially her companion and pet Papillon, Zoey.

There were a number of people that blessed Georgie’s life, including her dear neighbors, Vangie, Lawrence and Dee Dee. She was a sassy lady who enjoyed her Virginia Slims and a Rusty Nail night cap.

Georgette is survived by her daughters Tracy Kvies, and her husband, Rich Kvies, of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Tammy Bruestle, and her husband, Brad Bruestle, and Kellie Shanahan, and her husband, Ron Shanahan, all of Wilmington; son, Eugene Rodgers, and his wife, Melanie Rodgers, of Summerfield; and sister, Althea Nastasi. Georgette loved and adored all of her grandchildren, Kirsten Kvies Smith, and her husband, Will Smith, Kyle Kvies, and his wife, Angela Kvies, Thomas Harvey, Tayler-Jeanne Harvey, and her husband, Chase Denton, Ty Shanahan, Karly Shanahan, Connor Shanahan, Georgia Rodgers; and a recently added great-grandchild, Madison Grace Kvies.


A service will be held July 2021 in at Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, where she will be buried with her loving husband, Eugene Rodgers.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree and/or flowers in honor of Georgie who had a love of gardening.
