CALABASH — Otha Kendall “O.K.” Bellamy, 92, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020.
He was born Oct. 22, 1928, to the late Otha Plowden and Annie Clyde Edge Bellamy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Bellamy; and grandson, Jakob Bellamy.
After graduating high school, he attended Clemson College, where he studied agriculture. He married Mary Pearl Thompkins in 1947.
Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Mary; four children, Wayne Kendall Bellamy, and his partner, Hope, Mary Anna Gore, and her husband, Phil Gore, Joseph Kendall Bellamy, and his wife, Elma Gray Bellamy, Sam Kendall Bellamy, and his wife, Sarah R. Bellamy; sister, Virginia Post; seven grandchildren, Brendan Bellamy, Alicia Gore, Alex Gore, and his wife, Bridget, Ken Bellamy, and his wife, Megan, Jason Bellamy, and his wife, Tanya, Sallie Lun, and her husband, A.J., Mary Katherine Davis, and her husband, Mike; eight great-grandchildren, Darby Dugan, and husband, Kyle, Kirby Gore, Noah Bellamy, Jesse Bellamy, Lillie Bellamy, Wells Bellamy, Lea Davis and Lacey Lun.
O.K. loved farming and taught Sunday School for 62 years at Philadelphia Wesleyan Methodist Church, and most recently at the Little River United Methodist Church. He was a man of faith, dreams, vision and hope. Many of his dreams he realized; many of his visions, he accomplished. His faith and hope never failed and remained a source of incredible strength throughout his life.
A private service will be held at the farm.
