
LELAND — Sonja Virginia Henry passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, peacefully in her sleep at home.
She was born in Franklin, New Hampshire, to Tammy Theusch-Beasley and Ronald Marcoux.
Sonja was raised by her loving grandparents, Donald W. Theusch Sr. and Carol V. Theusch of Wilmington, who preceded her in death.
Sonja is survived by her husband, Kelly Bryan Henry of Leland; and son, Elliott Connor Henry of Leland. Sonja and Kelly were married for 22 wonderful and beautiful years.
Sonja left behind six siblings. Garrett Theusch and Mac Beasley, both of Wilmington, Tyler Marcoux and Hunter Marcoux, both of Tilton, New Hampshire, Jessi Burbank of Wilmington and Cara Juarez of Toledo, Ohio.
Sonja was a graduate of New Hanover High School. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and Master’s Degree in Social Work from East Carolina University.
Sonja was a beautiful soul inside and out. She was so thoughtful and caring to everyone around her. Her smile could light up a room and bring joy to everyone around her. She loved her job with Community Care of Lower Cape Fear, knowing that she was helping people in need. Most of all, she loved her family. She was a loving mother and wife. Her son and husband were everything to her, and they loved and adored her so much.
A celebration and tribute to Sonja will be held at a later date.
