SOUTHPORT — George Howard Burns, 77, went to be with our heavenly father Monday, Aug. 10, 2020.
He is survived by his loving mother, Hazel S. Hood of Southport; and two sons, Michael E. Burns of Wilson and Christopher K. Burns of Savannah, Georgia.
George spent his early career as a vice president with the Bank of North Carolina and later dedicated his knowledge of banking to supporting North Carolina’s farmers with the USDA and FHA administrations.
George spent the last years of his life spending time with family and enjoying retirement. He will be dearly missed.
A small memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
