
CURRIE — Tressie Mae Daughtrey Moore, 89, passed gently from her earthly life Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Pink Hill, the last surviving child of William H. and Agnes Crews Daughtrey.
In addition to her parents, Tressie was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Moore; son, Kenneth E. “Kenny” Moore; and sons-in-law, Primitivo Mandujano and Robert Carroll.
Tressie is survived by her son, James Walter Moore; daughters, Mary M. Carroll, Brenda Williamson (Alan), Emily Wheeler-Martinez (Marshall), Edwina Zuniga (Joel) and Sherry Mandujano; daughter-in-law, Patti Jones; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
Tressie was the oldest member of Bear Branch Baptist Church, where she had been a faithful member all her life. Not only was Tressie a beloved wife and wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, but a generous friend to all who knew her. She loved to cook for her family and friends, no one ever left her home hungry. Many moments of pleasure for her were found while gardening her flowers. Cherished treasured memories of Tressie will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at Moore Family Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Fairfax and the Rev. Dale Blake conducting the service. Casketbearers will be family and friends. Beginning at 10 a.m., there will be a walk-by viewing prior to services at the cemetery.
