William Henry ‘Bill’ Oakley Jr.

SUNSET BEACH — William Henry “Bill” Oakley Jr., 82, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020. He was born June 4, 1938, in Alamance County, a son of William Henry Oakley Sr. and Mary Kimbro Oakley. He became a great handyman after retiring from long-haul truck driving.

Mr. Oakley was a dear and trusted friend who delighted in introducing friends to friends, but nothing brought him greater joy than his family. He truly enjoyed people and exemplified this in his care and compassion for others. We will remember his humility, service and character.

Surviving are the love of his life his wife, Sandra Eleanor Hamby Oakley; sons, Roger Dale Oakley (Beth) of Haw River and Darrin Oakley (Melissa) of Supply; daughter, Laurie Oakley of Greensboro; and loving grandchildren, Shane, Stephanie, Blake, Jaxon and Parker.

There will be a period of visitation beginning at 1 p.m., Friday, July 23, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel, followed by a private service for the family. Social distancing will be practiced. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at Alamance Memorial Park.
