ASH — Willa Mae Allen, 92, passed away on May 21, 2020, at Brunswick Health Center. She was born June 1, 1927.
Born in Waynesville, she was the daughter of Walter and Lucy J. Robinson. She was the widower of Joseph Allen. They were married for 20 years, and he preceded her in death in 1985. She had four brothers and one sister who also preceded her in death over the years.
She was a production worker at Koolabrew for 20 years. She enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, big family gatherings, listening to country music (especially George Jones and Elvis Presley) and most of all, loving on her “babies.” She was well known for keeping you entertained and laughing by telling you stories of past times. Although her name was Willa, she was best known as “Momma,” “Mawmaw,” or “Billie.”
Willa is survived by daughters, Dana (Ivan), Bobbie (Donnie), Joanne (Randall) and Kimberly; and sons, Phillip (Mary) and Charles. Her sons, Jimmy McKay and Mike Rivenbark, preceded her in death. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Joseph (Lindie), Ashley, Joshua (Heather), Shayna (Red), Brittany (Myles), Timothy, Hannah and Molly; and four great-grandchildren, Liam, Jayden, Emma Rae and Marlie Mae.
She gained so much more family throughout her many years that we could not name them all, but they know who they are. She made a huge impact on so many lives, and she will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 23, at Eastside Fellowship, Shallotte. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
Share online condolences with the family at Brunswick Funeral Service.
