
SOUTHPORT — Steve Lunsford, 72, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, Brunswick House.
Steve was born Dec. 6, 1947, in Rhodhiss to the late Coy and Sally Anderson Lunsford. He attended the Stratford Career Institute, specializing in small engine repair. Steve was a commissioner for the town of Rhodhiss until 2003, he also retired from Duke Energy after 25 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Chewing and Betty Terry; and stepson, Chris Wilcox.
Surviving are his loving wife, Patricia Lunsford; sisters, Wanda Setzer and Geraldine Abernathy, both of Rhodhiss; brothers, David Lunsford of Rhodhiss and Willy Joe Lunsford of Cherryville; stepdaughter, Tracy Williams of Southport; stepson, Jesse Wilcox of Johnson City, Tennesse; granddaughter, Raven Brooke Warren of Oak Island; grandsons, Brandon Wilcox of Southport, Tyler Wilcox of Claremont and Thaddaeus Mwarangu and Matthew Mwarangu of Southport; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Wilcox and Chance Wilcox of Southport and Rowan and Liam Wilcox of Claremont; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to count. To all the family, please know that Steve loved everyone of you.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Generations Church, 4019 Executive Park Blvd. S.E., Southport.
