WINNABOW — Joseph Leonard “Joe” White Jr., 73, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 17, 2020.
He was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Rebecca Frances Jones White and Joseph Leonard White Sr.
Joe, known as “Joe Navy,” proudly served in the U.S. Navy and attended UNC-Chapel Hill, where he joined Phi Sigma Kappa and was loved by all of his fraternity brothers. He retired from Progress Energy and General Electric, spending all of his career in the nuclear industry. His greatest joys included fishing, watching the Tarheels play, spending time with his family and being a grandfather.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Terri Lynne; daughter, Katie Breeann; son, Joseph Lawrence; grandson, Mason Cash Williams; sisters, Joyce Ann Tabor (Richard) Candace White; and nephew, Clay Tabor.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home. Interment will follow with military honors in Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Easter Seals of Wilmington.
