LELAND — Sandra “Sandy” Floyd Hill, 72, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2019. Sandy was born June 10, 1947, to the late Roy Nolan Floyd and Hazel Thompson Floyd. She had worked for Bell South, later AT&T, for 32 years.
Sandy grew up attending Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. She loved her family, gardening, and spending time at the beach. Sandy will be remembered as the rock of the family and as a loving, caring, and giving person who always placed others before herself. Her nephews, Jason and Jeremy, were like her own children.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years Frank “Larry” Hill Jr.; three brothers, Buddy Floyd, and his wife, Jody, Fred Floyd, and his wife, Jane, and Don Floyd; sister, Donna Economos, and her husband, Tommy; nephews, Jason Economos, Jeremy Economos, Brandon Floyd and Jared Floyd; nieces, Jennifer MacNair, Missy Weir and Ava Floyd; stepson, French Hill; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Cannon and Michelle Hill; two step-granddaughters, Sidney Cannon Risher and Hazel Hill; and two step-grandsons, Deklan Hill and Roen Hill. Sandy was preceded in death by an infant sister, Donna Jean.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, 209 E. Nash St., Southport. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Southport Community Building, 223 E. Bay St., Southport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
