Jayson Woodrow Schlappich, 33, loved to share his passions with his two young boys

Jayson Woodrow Schlappich, 33, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at his home.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica (Morway) Schlappich; two sons, Mayson, age 6, and Bryson, age 3, of Wilmington; parents, Perry and Cathy (Brown) Schlappich of Rocky Point; two brothers, Justin and Joshua Schlappich of Myerstown, Pennsylvania; grandparents, Woodrow and Sandra Brown of Myerstown, Pennsylvania; grandmother, Jean Schlappich of Myerstown, Pennsylvania; three nieces, Lily Schlappich of Myerstown, Pennsylvania, and Nayeliz and Sophia Morway of Wilmington; nephew, Brennon Schlappich of Myerstown, Pennsylvania; in-laws, Peter and Beth Morway of Wilmington; brother and sister-in-law, Derek and Glenda Marrero (Morway) of Wilmington; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was born Oct. 3, 1985, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Jayson graduated from ELCO high school in Myerstown, Pennsylvania, Class of 2004. He met the love of his life, Jessica, in 2004. They later married in 2012 to raise their family of two boys, Mayson and Bryson. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 2005, acquiring his machinist skills and certifications to prepare him for his civilian career as a machinist, starting at Peiffer Machines for six years and Alcon for two years in Pennsylvania. In 2013, he accepted an offer from GE for a machinist position in Wilmington. Soon after moving his family down and settling in, he was called to active duty for a year tour in Afghanistan.

Jayson was passionate about hunting, fishing and hockey. He loved to share his passions with his two young boys. He was a dedicated family man and would do anything for anyone in need. Jayson was a loving person who will be truly missed by all. We love you, and you will be forever in all of our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 1, at Andrews Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, with Dr. Steve Spangler officiating. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 a.m. prior to services. Immediately following the service, the family will be escorted to the American Legion Post No. 10, 702 Pine Grove Drive, Wilmington.
