Tony Maurice Hare, 70, enjoyed oil painting and pottery

Mr. Tony Maurice Hare, 70, of Melbourne, Florida, and formerly of Holden Beach, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2018. Mr. Hare was born June 27, 1948, in Wayne County, North Carolina, the son of the late Albert Lee Hare and Gladys Aycock Hare.

He graduated from Shallotte High School in 1967 and obtained an Associate Degree at Cape Fear Community College in 1976. He was a retired central office technician with Atlantic Telephone Membership Corporation. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, oil painting and pottery with his wife Brenda.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Kay Hare; daughter, Michelle Furr, and her husband, Keith, of Hebron, Kentucky; son, Christopher Hare of Altus, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Devin Furr, Emma Furr, Nathan Furr and Jorden Hare.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at Sabbath Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Wade McLamb and the Rev. Anthony Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to a time of visitation with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to services at the church prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to a hospice organization of your choice.
