
WILMINGTON — Otis Eugene “Gene” Tucker, 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Morningside of Wilmington.
Gene was born March 10, 1931, in Summerville, South Carolina, the son of the late Otis Brennan and Leila Meyer Tucker. He retired as a tugboat captain from Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Dredging. He loved bass fishing and working in his yard. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Vera Eunice Tucker; sons, Michael Tucker, and his wife, Sandra, and Blaine James, and his wife, Brenda; daughters, Valerie Jefferson, and her husband, Jay, and Sharon Thompson, and her husband, Ray, all of Wilmington; brother, Stanley Tucker, and sister Edna “Snookie” Trippe, both of Summerville, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Ashley Siddons, Brittany and Trey Jefferson; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Savannah Siddons.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31, at Oleander Memorial Gardens.The Rev. Lundy Logue will officiate the service. Military honors will follow the service.
