
BURGAW — Raymond Earl Bryant, 76, passed from his earthly life Monday, Aug. 13, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Wilmington, the son of the late Raymond Charles and Gladys Matthews Bryant.
Earl is survived by his beloved wife of 30 happy years, Virginia T. “Ginny” Bryant; daughter, Angie Bryant; son, Mike Bryant, and his wife, Dawn; stepdaughter, Martha H. Kane, and her husband, James; granddaughters, Haylee Bryant and Brittany Bryant; step-granddaughter, Holland Kane; brother, Wilbert Bryant, and his wife, Hilda; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Earl was a faithful member of Burgaw Baptist Church, where he had served as deacon. After working many years, Earl retired from W.M. Wrigley Company.
Earl was a true Southern gentleman who loved his family and was thoughtful of others. He loved all nature in God’s beautiful world. His yard, one of the prettiest and immaculately groomed in Burgaw, was his pride and joy. He was a lover of antique cars and was a big North Carolina State Basketball team fan. His contagious friendly smile, gentle manner and warm heart will be missed and always remembered.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, at the fellowship hall of Burgaw Baptist Church with funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. William Smith and the Rev. Dean Walker will conduct services. Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.
