Dennis Peter O’Rourke, 75, former director of facilities with World Wrestling Entertainment

LELAND — Dennis Peter O’Rourke, 75, passed away at his home Thursday, June 28, 2018.

He was born May 15, 1943, in Yonkers, New York, to the late Joseph and Anne O’Rourke. He had been a resident of Fairfield for 30 years and was the beloved husband of Brenda O’Rourke for the last 47 years.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in Yonkers, New York, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1966. After he was discharged, he worked as the manager of facilities at IBM and later as a director of facilities at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He retired with his wife to Leland in 2013. He loved playing golf, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a man of great faith and an involved parishioner in Fairfield and Wilmington.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda O’Rourke of Leland; two children, Michael O’Rourke of Apex and Suzie Minogue of Fairfield; sister, Diane O’Rourke of Yonkers; five grandchildren, Patrick, Keri and Sean O’Rourke, all of Apex, and Teagan and Scarlett Minogue, both of Fairfield.

A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, July 6, at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
