WILMINGTON — Diane Hewlett Steele, 73, passed away suddenly Friday, June 22, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1944, in Bangor, Maine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nell Newton.
Mrs. Steele is survived by her loving husband, Robert Clayton Steele Sr; sons, William Melvin Hewlett III and Kyle Steele; daughter, Robin Steele; sisters, Robin Newton Jenkins (Larry), Karen Newton Cole (Gregory) and Lauren Newton Edmonds (James); granddaughters, Lillian M. Hewlett and Rhyn Jameson; nieces, Darian Weaver and Candice Cole; and nephew, Cole Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held in Mrs. Steele’s honor at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington with the Rev. Lawrence C. Jenkins Sr. officiating. A second service in Washington, D.C., is planned for a later date.
