SOUTHPORT — John Henry Wolfe Jr., 97, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, Bolivia. He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Baltimore, Maryland, son of the late John Henry Wolfe Sr. and Mary Rodgers Wolfe.
Mr. Wolfe was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and recently attended his 75th Class Reunion. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. In Southport, he was known as “Pop Wolfe.” He volunteered with the elementary schools and the Sea Oats Planting program. He enjoyed bicycling until he was 96 years old, and loved coaching soccer and being near the water.
Surviving are his children, Barbara W. Zea (Rudy), Jeffrey B. Wolfe, James Dennis Wolfe (Trisha), Gregory J. Wolfe (Bonnie), Laura Wolfe Krushinski (Marc) and John H. “Jay” Wolfe III (Lori); 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and brother, William Barnes Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Wolfe; and sister, Elizabeth Mitchell.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel.
