Henry William Lathrop, 86, died Friday, May 18, 2018. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Edgar and Lillian Lathrop.
Henry served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He worked for IBM for 35 years in various positions including technical advisor, manager and liaison with Japan. He was the recipient of several awards throughout his career with IBM. He was a member of B’Nai Israel Congregation and served on the board as a V.P. He was also a member of the Prostate Cancer Support Group and UNCW OLLI PLATO.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalie Mandelbaum.
He is survived by Elaine, his wife of over 60 years, son; Carey Lathrop, and his wife, Jamie; daughters, Robin Lathrop, Tracy Lathrop and Dana Pellizzari, and her husband, John, grandchildren; Zach, Evin, Jennie and Zoe Lathrop, Lucy and Oliver Salas, Lillia, Edina, and Ian Shub, Sarah and Jenna Pellizzari.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, at B’nai Israel Synagogue. Interment will immediately follow in B’nai Israel Cemetery. The family will sit Shiva at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, at their residence.
