Gary B. Albanese Sr., 63, shared his passion for fast cars and motorcycles

WILMINGTON — Gary B. Albanese Sr., 63, former longtime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in Wilmington, where he lived.

Born Dec. 12, 1954, he was the son of the late Michael Henry Albanese and Catherine Cox. He was raised by his late stepmother, Zita Comeau Albanese.

After graduating from Hastings High School, Gary joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon his return, he became an owner/operator in the trucking industry. He later joined Local 445, driving a tractor-trailer for Anchor Motor Freight in Tarrytown, New York, where he spent many years working for the company until its closing. He became a member of Local 456 in Elmsford, New York, thereafter.

He married Tina Marie Heiss Sept. 29, 1984. Together, they had three beautiful children; daughters, Danielle Marie Albanese Rusch (Nicholas) of Wilmington and April Ann Albanese (Orrin Turner) of Panama City, Florida; and son, Gary B. Albanese Jr. (Bobby Cotton) of Oakville, Connecticut. In addition, he was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren who he loved dearly, Danica Marie and Dominic Joseph Rusch. He is survived by his brother, Kevin Albanese (Lucinda) of Yonkers, New York; and several half-brothers and sisters along with several nieces and nephews. His brother, Michael, preceded him in death.

Gary shared his passion for fast cars, motorcycles, the New York Yankees, firearms and golf with many friends. Gary will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
