SUNSET BEACH — Robert Herk Gartner, 81, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018, at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center, Little River, South Carolina.
He was born March 2, 1937, in Summit, New Jersey, the son of the late Mary Herk Gartner and was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Patikowski; and brother, Carl Gartner.
Mr. Gartner was a member of Beach Assembly of God Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and member of the Sea Trail Men’s Golf League.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Carol Gartner of the home; daughter, Patty Gilmore, and her husband, Billy, of Sunset Beach; brother, James Gartner of New Jersey; sister, Jean Gartner of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Michelle Close, Carolyn Shea, and her husband, Timothy, and Grace Close; two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Declan Shea; and favorite pet “Zeus.”
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, at Beach Assembly of God Church with Pastor John Chase officiating.
