Marion Dean, 92, Army veteran who served during World War II

WILMINGTON — Marion Dean, 92, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at Spring Arbor of Wilmington.

Born April 8, 1925, in Buffalo, N.Y., Marion was the daughter of the late Donald and Virginia Silliman.

Marion was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II and was awarded a Victory Medal. She married Ed Dean Feb. 1, 1947. In 1960, Marion and Ed formed Edmar Caning Shop in Commack, Long Island, N.Y. In 1986, they retired to the Carolinas.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Floreno, and her husband, Steve, of Wilmington, N.C.; and granddaughter, Kristen Floreno of Southern Pines, N.C.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at Harbor United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
