WILMINGTON — Jeanette Mullis Naval, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Charlotte, N.C.
Jeanette was born July 14, 1925, in Alamo, Ga., the fifth of six children of the late James and Dollie Mullis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Primo Naval; sister, Inez Strickland; and three brothers, Arnold Mullis, Thaxton Mullis and Sydney Lanier Mullis.
Jeanette worked for National Geographic Society for over 20 years. When she and her husband, Primo, retired, they moved to Wilmington, N.C., and dabbled in real estate with remarkable success.
Jeanette was an active member of Winter Park Baptist Church. A deacon and devotional leader, she derived great satisfaction delivering inspiring and entertaining devotionals to her church groups.
Jeanette is survived by her brother, Gerald Mullis of Macon, Ga.; daughters, Nita Naval of Pacifica, Calif., and Christina Palmer of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Joseph Naval, and his wife, Gail, of Rock Hill, S.C.; grandchildren, Cheryl Trooskin-Zoller of Seattle, Wash., Jennifer Trooskin of Pacifica, Calif., Moment Palmer of Washington, D.C., Stone Palmer of Charlotte, N.C., and Vicki Kelliebrew of Lanham, Md.; and four great-grandchildren.
The family expresses love and gratitude to Lennart Lonander, her best friend who brought joy into her life for many years.
A visitation was held Friday, March 30, at Winter Park Baptist Church, with Pastor Mark Teachey officiating. Interment followed in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
