
WILMINGTON — Myrtle Johnson Peterson, 79, died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare Center.
Myrtle was born Oct. 31, 1938, the daughter of the late Ed and Mildred “Alex” Congelton Johnson. Also preceding her in death were her husband, John Steven Peterson; and sister, Judy Presnell.
She was a member of Long Leaf Baptist Church.
Surviving Myrtle are her companion, Harry Pope; children, Lynn Denning, and her companion, John Ellis, and John S. Peterson, and his wife, Sharon; sister, Mildred Johnson, and her husband, J.D.; grandchildren, Ryder, Dylan and Austin, and his girlfriend, Lauren, and his mother, Erika; nephews, Ed and Teri Johnson, Bruce and Marcie Presnell, Chris and Carmen Presnell, and their families; as well as many friends and relatives.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 till 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 26, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Oleander Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Josh Reilly will officiate the service.
The family would like to thank the staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the wonderful care given to Myrtle while in their care. A special thank you to Jeremy Pepper, P.A., and his staff at Access Internal Medicine.
